SAE stands for Supervised Agricultural Experience. It is expected that every student has their own SAE project. Through their involvement in the program students are able to learn about various parts of the agriculture field. There are six different types of SAE Projects.

Classroom instruction is hands on learning in an agricultural science class. For our chapter it includes: working with plants in the greenhouse, using tools in the shop to make something, and doing labs in the classroom. Instruction also involves reading, writing and studying like traditional classroom learning, but the difference is the hands-on learning.

Mission

The National FFA Organization is the official name of the organization. The name was updated in 1988 to reflect to the growing diversity and new opportunities in the industry of agriculture. Today FFA is the largest student organization in the nation! Through FFA the opportunities are limitless. Traveling to FFA conventions and leadership conferences provides opportunities to develop leadership skills, learn about hundreds of potential careers, and meet people from other states. Other activities vary by chapter. To enroll you must be in an agriculture class.

FFA membership today has 1,027,273 student members in grades 7-12

FFA started in 1928!

Agricultural education is a standardized program of instruction for students passionate to learn about the business, science, technology of plant and animal production and/or about environmental and natural resources systems. Agricultural education instruction has three major components: SAE, FFA and Classroom, all of them together are referred to as the Ag Ed Model.

Agricultural education joined the public education system in 1917 when the Smith-Hughes Act was passed. Today, over 945,000 students are involved in agricultural education programs offered in grades seven-adult throughout the 50 states and three U.S. territories!
